Room and dinner is 50 ringgit per person per evening's stay at his place, for now. (open throughout the year except during Chinese New Year period)

Wanton mee is 3.50 ringgit. kopi-o is around 1 ringgit. Beer cost about the same as in singapore when i bought it from a coffeeshop ; 14 ringgit per bottle of Carlsberg. a pack of classic red&gold packaging dunhill(14 sticks) is around 7 ringgit.

I got a canvas sling bag(big enough for folding umbrella and a slr) for 15 ringgit at mersing and a pair of slippers(modern looking Dunlops; from a local shop that looks like BATA) for 30 ringgit from kota tinggi..

The bus trip from Larkin to Kota Tinggi is 1 hr plus and costs maybe 6 ringgit, between Kota Tinggi and Jemaluang its 7 ringgit and takes around 1 hr.

um, yeah, if anyone does buy coffee powder from me, its going into my coffers to fund my next trip or next piece of photographic equipment..

but the 50 ringgit for room and dinner is going straight to my uncle. he doesn't know about this, but i want him to be amply compensated for his trouble hosting us.

there is dried octopus and cuttlefish and unfried prawn crackers to be bought from mersing, but i think its not viable for me to help anyone buy them.

but the local salted fish is another matter; i don't think it can be found in singapore, so i'd buy it if anyone is interested. But it will cost.
